About FCCP4S

FCCP4S formed to advocate for the full reopening of Falls Church City Public Schools on behalf of children and parents, in conformity with the current science regarding safe re-opening.

There are many voices weighing in on this discussion- teachers, administrators, associations… but the most important voice, often being drowned out, is that of our children struggling in the virtual learning environment. FCCP4S is standing up for those voices and insisting on accountability and a clear science-backed path forward to full-time in-person instruction through advocacy and education.

Hybrid is a start, but it cannot be the goal.

COVID-19 has reshaped the assumed risks we each take as we live our lives. It has caused real losses and pain. However, one of the largest tragedies coming from this pandemic is the unintended, yet very real damage school closures are inflicting on our children. In attempting to minimize one potential risk, we have created absolute harm to the emotional, developmental, and mental well-being of kids. We must change course and we must do it swiftly and safely for the families and children that need full-time instruction as an option.

“While children are not the drivers of this pandemic, they risk being among its biggest victims.” JAMA- January 22, 2021
